Description:

CLARA BARTON
(1821 - 1912) American nurse who tended the wounded in the Civil War and later founded the American Red Cross. Good content A.L.S. 2pp. 8vo., Glen Echo, [n.d.], to the Secretary of the National First Aid Association, in part: "...Our journey is ended. We are safe at home...the pile of unopened mail matter on my desk almost appalls me. I am so grateful for the lift at your dear hand, and feel the future need all the more...Washington papers published the Globe article - pictures and all. Wasn't it splendid that they got the incidental dose of First-Aid? And saw that I didn't criticize their President? But wasn't that a splendid interview that we had?...". Very good.
