CIVIL WAR TREASURY DEPARTMENT AND NAVAL ARCHIVE
A group of over 225 war-date documents, being correspondence between the Treasury Department and Union Navy, that richly illustrate the orchestration of the two bodies. The documents refer to the securing of Navy personnel, pay of services and goods, official receipts, promotions and discharges of officers, requests for payment, and so forth. The correspondence, dating from 1862-1879, is for the most part by and between fleet paymasters HENRY SELLMAN and J. G. BRADFORD and various Navy agents and auditors, with some signed by individuals important to the operation of the Navy, including GIDEON WELLES: an A.L.S. 1p. 4to., Washington, Aug. 6, 1862 to Sellman requesting that he ‘…draw upon the Paymaster of the Flag Ship of the North Atlantic Blockading Squadron, Robert Pettit, who will pay…'.. Documents exhibits varying degrees of wear but are overall in very good condition. Worthy of further research!

International shipments are invoiced by DIMENSIONAL weight, not the item weight.
