Description:

CIVIL WAR SURGEON'S FIELD AMPUTATION KIT
A fine Civil War era relic, a surgeon's field amputation kit in a 16.25" x 5 " x 2.75" deep mahogany case with the corners bound in brass. The case is velvet lined and holds a tourniquet, bone forceps, needle pack, amputation saw and lifting-back metacarpal saw, both with ebony handles. No markings identify the maker of the instruments or the wooden case itself. The lock is intact, but the brass covering for the keyhole and the brass inlay on the top are missing. In all, a fine representation of Civil War field medicine.
