Fine lot of 43 war-date 9 1/2" x 12" steel engravings of Union generals, commodores and other military notables, published by J.C. Buttre, 48 Franklin St., New York City, 1864. Most of the images are from photographs executed by Mathew Brady and later engraved by Buttre, exhibiting some of the finest detail derived from the steel engraving process. Includes: Henry Slocum, A. Pleasanton, Henry Halleck, Winfield Scott, W. H. L. Wallace, James D. Cox, Louis Blenker, Isaac Stevens, William B. Franklin, William F. Smith, John G. Foster, Edwin V. Sumner, Daniel Butterfield, Nathanial Banks, David Hunter, John Pope, Robert Viele, James Shields, George B. McClellan, Nathanial Lyon, Abner Doubleday, Joseph B. Carr, Theodore Winthrop, Louis Goldsborough, John S. Crocker, James A. Mulligan, Charles Wilkins, E.E. Ellsworth, William D. Porter, Arthur B. Fuller, John A. Dahlgren, Thomas R. Haines, Andrew H.
