Description:

CIVIL WAR DOCUMENTS
Two pieces, the first an A.L.S. by one R. B. Mary, 2pp. 8vo., Washington, May 2, 1870 on Headquarters Army of the United States Inspector General's office to Col. J. G. Wilson. In part: "...I have sent you a copy of the New Army Regstr in accordance with your request. In regards to the selections for the Board of Visitors to West Point, I am not aware what the practice has been, but I should think an instruction to the President that you would like it might influence his actions...". Along with TIMOTHY R. STANLEY, Union brevet brigadier general, war-date D.S. signed with rank, 1p. folio, [n.p.], Jan. 31, 1864, a listing of "Clothing, Camp & Garrison Equipage" needed for the Engineer Brigade for the month of February, includes a very wide assortment of material. Very good. Two pieces, each elaborately framed in a rustic wood "log" frame. Fine condition.
