A fine group of nine signatures by Union Brigadier Generals, includes: LUCIUS F. HUBBARD (1836-1913), took part in Corinth, Vicksburg, and Nashville, later Governor of Minnesota. Signature adding ‘Minnesota 1883', penned on a small slip. Fine. WITH: PENNOCK HUEY (1828-1903) Cavalry commander who engaged Stonewall Jackson at Chancellorsville. Signature and sentiment on a small card, fine condition. WITH: WILLIAM HUMPHREY (1828-1899), participated in all major battles, wounded twice at Spotsylvania, then commanded with distinction at the Crater. War-date A.L.S. 1p. 4to., City Point, VA, Sept. 30, 1864, to the Provost Marshall seeking permission to take a horse to Washington. Expertly inlaid and fine. WITH: MORGAN C. HUNTER (1825-1896), fought against Bragg at Missionary Ridge, led his unit on Sherman's March to the Sea, later U.S. Senator. Signature adding ‘Bloomington, Indiana' penned on a small sheet. Very good. WITH: THOMAS W. HYDE (1841-1899), Union general, commanded at Shenandoah, Second Bull Run and Antietam, and later U.S. Senator. A.L.S. on his ‘Maine Ship Machinery Company' letterhead, 1p. 4to., Bath, ME, Feb. 25, 1879, ordering new pump chambers. Folds, very good. WITH: GEORGE P. IHRIE (1827-1903), commanded at Corinth, Tallahatchie, Grenada, Vicksburg, and other major engagements. Signature and closing taken from a letter, penned on a small lined sheet. Mounted. WITH: WILLIAM IRVINE (1820-1882), with his regiment served in 55 battles from 1862 to Appomattox, later a Member of Congress. War-date partly-printed D.S. 1p. folio, Apr. 12, 1864, an accounting of pay for soldiers sick or on leave. Folds with one split at margin, otherwise very good. WITH: WILLIAM P. INNES (1826-1893) commanding officer of the First Michigan Engineers and Mechanics, served the Union throughout the entire war. War-date partly-printed D.S. 1p. folio, Bridgeport, AL, Apr. 1864, a report of a soldier employed by Innes as 'US Teamster', signed at conclusion. Folds, very good. WITH: BRAYTON IVES (1840-1914) brevetted for heroism at four battles, later President of the New York Stock Exchange. Late A.L.S. 1p. 8vo., New York, Mar. 31, 1913, on his Wall Street letterhead regretting that he cannot provide addresses. Mounted. Nine pieces.
