NY Vol, later a medical cadet and then assistant surgeon. He was honorably discharged on June 29, 1865. Coe saw action in the battles of First Bull Run, West Point, Mechanicsville, Seven Days Fight and in the Siege of Charleston. He also served as a delegate to the U.S. Christian Commission.
