CHRISTOPHER C. ANDREWS
(1829 - 1922) Union brigadier general, captured by Confederates in Tennessee in July 1862. He later commanded a brigade in the operations to capture Little Rock, and helped organize the Unionists in Arkansas and was influential in the reorganization of Arkansas as a free state. Andrews was assigned to the command of the Second Division of the XIII Corps and participated in the siege and storming of Fort Blakely in Alabama. War-date A.N.S. on the verso of an A.L.S. of first lieutenant, commanding Co. D, Ohio Volunteer Infantry, 1p. 4to., Brownsville, AK, Aug. 21, 1864, directed to Assistant Adjutant General W. D. Green, sending the remains of one of his company's slain. Andrews forwards the request on the verso, in full: ‘Hd. Qrs. 2nd Div…DeValls Bluff, Aug. 23, 1864, Respectfully forwarded. C. C. Andrews Brig. Genl. Comg.'. Also endorsed by ‘the Black Beard Cossack' EUGENE A. CARR (1830 – 1910) Union brigadier general, awarded the Medal of Honor for his actions at the Battle of Pea Ridge. Carr also led the attack on Confederate forces at the Battle of Port Gibson. He fought in subsequent battles at Champion's Hill and Vicksburg. He signs in full ‘E. A. Carr'. Folds with splitting at the right edge, lightly soiled, overall, very good.
