Description:

CHINESE TERRA-COTTA WAR HORSE
Chinese pottery statue, 11" x 9 1/2" x 5", depicting a war horse in the style of the T'ang dynasty (618-906). The statue is realistically modeled with the figure in a half-crouched position, with the right foreleg raised, partially covered in green and chestnut glazes, and placed on an integral rectangular base. Likely manufactured in the 1920's or 1930's, during which T'ang artistic styles enjoyed a resurgence in popularity. Bears white scaling throughout, with both ears missing and the tail broken off and repaired, and missing large chips, else good to very good.
