An extraordinary gathering of 17 signatures of the greatest chess champions of the previous one hundred years...some of them arguably the best players of all time,. The ink signatures were gathered by a turn of the century autograph collector on four separate 3 1/4" x 2 1/2" cards. The include: EMANUEL LASKER,, World Chess Champion for 27 years (from 1894 to 1921); FRANK J. MARSHALL, U.S. Chess Champion from 1909-36; MIKHAIL TSCHIGORIN,, leading Russian player, the last great player of the Romantic chess style, he also served as a major source of inspiration for the "Soviet Chess School"; CARL SCHLECHTER, Austrian chess master and theoretician, drew a World Chess Championship match with Lasker; ALBERT WHITING FOX, , American chess master; JACKSON W. SHOWALTER, "The Kentucky Lion", five-time U.S. Chess Champion; HARRY N. PILLSBURY, at age 22, he won one of the strongest tournaments of the time (the Hastings 1895 chess tournament); EUGENE DELMAR, a leading chess master of the time; RICHARD TEICHMANN, German chess master; JOHN T. BURRY, ALBERT HODGES American chess master who helped popularize the game; THOMAS F. LAWRENCE, WILLIAM NAPIER American chess masters; JACQUES MIESES, German Grandmaster; D. JANOUSKY[?], and FRANK J. MARSHALL appearing a second time. Overall fine.

Shipment is sent USPS priority, USPS International Express (for most overseas), DHL or UPS Ground at the auctioneer's option, signature required, unless other arrangements are made. Handling, shipping and insurance charges will be added to the invoice in one entry. Buyers should be aware that large, framed, fragile or odd shaped items can incur substantial shipping and packing charges. NOTE: Large, heavy or bulky items are not shipped by the auctioneer - arrangements for shipping of these items via a third-party shipper may be arranged through the auction house.
