920. LUIGI CHERUBINI (1760 - 1842) Italian composer and Director of the Paris Conservatory, best remembered for his operas. A.L.S. "Cherubini" 1p. 12mo., [n.p., n.d.], in French to unidentified friends, possibly arranging an evening of chamber music at his home, mentioning the arrival of his former pupil Pierre Marie Francois de Sales Baillot, the eminent French violinist and composer who was a member of the Emperor Napoleon's private orchestra from 1802, and later concert-master at the Opera. In part: "...When I came home this evening, I learned that dear Baillot had arrived. According to our agreement, all three of you are to be at my home tomorrow, Friday. My dear friends, don't break your word. I'm expecting you...". Baillot toured Russia with the French cellist Jacques de la Marre in 1805-08. Light toning, with bottom edge slightly shaved, otherwise very good. $400 - 500
