Description:

A one-of-a-kind grouping, an official collection of legal and case documents relating to CHARLES MANSON, compiled by him during his incarceration. Includes: His content-rich 'Cumulative Case Summary', 32pp. 4to, detailing the numerous murders of which he had been accused, his previous criminal history, multiple social and psychological evaluations, a interim report, institution and parole recommendations, and his disciplinary reports, providing 28 infractions the inmate had committed. Manson adds numerous hand-inked comments, writing 'LIE' beneath a passage stating that he had refused psychological testing, adding 'bullshit' next to a passage which accused him of acting as 'a Christ-like prophet', and writes 'BS' next to accusations that the Manson Family is 'related to the Tate and LaBianca killings'. WITH: A copy of a 'Rules Violation Report', 1p. 4to., June 18, 1995, accusing Manson of 'trafficking/possession/use of illegal narcotics' and of 'introducting/trafficking drugs into CSP-Corcoran on or about July 1994'. The Inmate's plea at bottom indicates that Manson stated 'No evidence...snitch game being played down there in that rat unit...administration of this prison has nothing better to do.' The copy also includes numerous scanned annotations by Manson, whom adds 'Send me 10 copys' and writes 'THERE WAS NONE' above the line accusing him of drug possession. WITH: Scanned copy of a 'Disciplinary Hearing Worksheet', April 5, 1995, bearing a lengthy rant by Manson, in part: '...there is no one I can turn to because they are all lying...the rats run it all - who can we rat to - the people who run for the rats are worse than the rats themselves...'. WITH: Copy of the transcript from Manson's parole hearing, 13pp. 4to., Nov. 27, 1979, detailing the brutality of 'Manson Family' murders, detailing Manson's accused involvement in the plot, as well the killings of the numerous victims and the desecration of their bodies. Sold with numerous other documents, including three carbon copies related to Manson's transfer to general population and a canteen price list for the Vacaville prison, likely owned and used by Manson. These documents are housed within an oversized manila folder, which itself bears numerous sketches, scribblings, and passages by Manson. One side is complete with such drawings, yet includes a hand-drawn red swastika, and the ominous passage: 'To Die for Thy Mistakes'. The opposite side bears a poem in blue ink, reading in part: '...you know how I cry...MR in Mentally Retarded like the Riff & BS is Bull Shit like Count von Broma [Manson's alias]...' The interior of the folder bears some nonsensical inscriptions, along with additional illustrations. This folder is itself housed within a tan envelope, bearing the identifying inscription 'Inmate's Copy...Manson, Charles...B-33920', written in another person's hand. Some spots of staining to the manila folder, else very good to fine condition. A truly unique collection, and one of the most content-heavy Charles Manson groupings we have ever offered. From the estate of Manson's biographer NUEL (MELTON) EMMONS (1927-2002), who had once been jailed with and later befriended Manson. He co-wrote 'Manson in His Own Words'
