Description:

CHARLES MANSON
(1934-2017) Drifter whose 'family' committed the infamous Tate-LaBianca murders in 1969. Interesting autograph letter (unsigned), written on the verso of a letter sent to Manson, 1p. 4to., [n.p.], 1987, the original letter being a request for an interview on the Fox News show 'A Current Affair.' The letter to Manson reads in part: '...I am writing to request an interview with you for a prime time news magazine...You have become a folk hero of sorts, yet you remain an enigma to most of the American public. You have been vilified and worshipped, but who is Charles Manson really? We would like to let you tell your side of the story. This would be an extended profile of you and your philosophy...' On the verso Manson writes to his biographer Nuel Emmons, in part: '...I don't want to play interviews unless your there and you approve it, you know a lot more about this than I do...there is an awful lot of money coming into play, and you're not [used] to dealing with big bucks, so you hold the kitty as no one does...all this hinges if I can get through ever more of this madness...'Fine condition. From a grouping of Manson's letters in the estate of his biographer NUEL (MELTON) EMMONS (1927-2002), who had once been jailed with and later befriended Manson. He co-wrote 'Manson in His Own Words'.
