Description:

CHARLES MANSON
(1934 - 2017) Drifter whose 'family' committed the infamous Tate-LaBianca murders in 1969. A.Ms. (unsigned), 5pp. 4to., California, Nov. 8, 1979, to his biographer, Nuel Melton, who had once been jailed with and later befriended Manson. In part: '...I read your letter with more in it to understand than to hate - with respect for the truth...woman you're a brainwashed fool. The Enquirers magazine lies and is distorted - the images could be called dolls not quite like a past time or as you would think a hobby...How can you speak to me of Christian love...keep covering your truth with fear and lies - I told you truth years ago. I broke no law. Don't send me brochures of your fears - even now I think to write you the truth about how disturbed you've become...I was reborn in 1967...Don't tell me of Christian justice and love as long as I'm in this cage - 34 years I've been the sacrificial scapegoat for you phony Christians...take all you think you know about Manson and reverse it and then think in fear of what your world has coming to it - like John W[Wilkes]. Booth was not what you were told - he was good and put in the grave by the same kind of money minded maggots that feed on the truly good...and you want a doll to play with - and if you get your hands on a doll you would put it in your mouth and when you wasn't looking it would move around in the truth until you see yourself going to the cross.' Accompanied by handwritten envelope. Mailing folds, else fine.
