Description:

(1934 - 2017) Drifter whose 'family' committed the infamous Tate-LaBianca murders in 1969. Lengthy, insane A.L.S. 'C. Manson', 12pp. 4to., Vacaville, November 5, 1979, addressed to his biographer Nuel Melton and incessantly rambling on a variety of subjects. In part: '...I see things that other people don't realize right now, but in time, what little time is left, will come to realize...I can see through a child's eyes as well as an old man's...my enemies respect me more than my friends...you will come to realize there are more reasons than one why I don't VISIT, I've tried, even Lyn Fromme went through 10 times hell and went to Ford trying to get a visit [Fromme had tried to assasinate Gerald Ford in 1975] ...I've never killed anyone, and want to hold the thought of not killing people who want to die. The people that want to die want me to send them to heaven or hell...I've been under all the voids...As the spirit of the truth [adds swastika] grows up...I'm not talking to no one...I've been holding the thoughts of everyone in every prison I've ever been in...Nixon took my thought and Lt. Kelly thought they could fix it...I earned my thought for 34 years...if you took my life someone will take yours. No King would ever kill the king...The Queen of England been running the US in though before we ever thought of it...my survival comes first to me, I'm all I've ever had...' Much more. Interestingly, the first page and a half of the letter seem to be written in a different, neater hand, before devolving in Manson's erratic script. Creased, with some scattered ink stains. Accompanied by a hand addressed envelope. Fine condition.
