Description:

(1934 - 2017) Drifter whose "family" committed the infamous Tate-LaBianca murders in 1969. Good content A.L.S. "C. Manson" (with swastika), 2pp. folio, [prison in Tamal Co., CA., Aug. 1987], to his biographer, NUEL (MELTON) EMMONS (1927-2002), who became a photojournalist after being jailed with and later befriending Manson. The handwritten letter, addressed to "Mel", reads in part: "...I judge you by what I think of me - I know you look at me much the same - I always felt you didn't like me, I never thought you hated me so much...I just git to thinking by some of the things you said in that book - man this guy hates me...If I ever go back to court again you have convicted me all over again...where I'm at mentely its of little diffince...you got the Book - I got nothing els you want - there is no need to play nice mel...not holding you to nothing [but] isn't your bank fat enough to send me a T.V...send a guitar some where before the stuff you wrote pays you to beeline it...you didn't owe me no favors so Im not gonna bug you...this is my last letter unless you respond - why don't you just say Later Sucker..." Manson signs in red ink centrally on the second page, yet adds a post-script regarding Emmons's career after his imprisonment had ended, reading in part: "...you worked hard to pull your self up & I believe you made it - but I also feel you pulled your self up to what you were already over long ago. I don't think you will like it where you made it to...that's none of my business & I don't feel you give a fuck what I think..." Manson signs again in the bottom-right corner, "EZ" - a simplification of Manson's occasional signature "Easy Charlie Mac Manson". Three original mailing folds, else fine. Sold with transmittal envelope, bearing Manson's signature, prisoner number and return address on the top-left and an August 14, 1987 cancel on the top-right. From the estate of Nuel Emmons, co-author of "Manson in His Own Words".
