his Gad's Hill letterhead, 1p. 8vo., Kent, Oct. 18, 1861 concerning his personal seal. In part: "...Mr. Charles Dickens begs to inform...that he would rather not have any monogram engraven on his seal, but simply the two distinct letters C D in old English characters...". Tiny tear in text carefully repaired on verso and nearly imperceptible, folds, near fine condition.
