Description:

CHARLES CONRAD, JR.
(1930 - 1999) American astronaut who served as pilot on two Gemini missions and commanded the Apollo 12 flight. An important flight-day D.S., 1p. 12mo., [Cape Kennedy], Nov. 14, 1969, Conrad's personal check made out to Harold Collins in the amount of $10.00, boldly executed and signed by Conrad on the very day he would lift-off as commander of the Apollo 12 mission to the moon to become the third man to walk on the satellite's surface. Collins was Chief of the Mission Support Office at Kennedy Space Center and of course was present on launch day. Asking Conrad for a souvenir of that historic mission, he was presented with this check, and no doubt a wise guy remark as well. On the verso of the check, Collins noted: "CHECK WRITTEN BY CHARLES CONRAD ON LAUNCH MORNING NOV. 14, 1969". Fine condition.
