CHARLES CAROLL OF CAROLLTON
(1737 - 1832) Signer of the Declaration of Independence and member of the Continental Congress. Manuscript D.S. 4pp. folio, May 13, 1806, an indenture, in which Carroll in partnership with Nicholas Carroll, William Smith, Washington Van Bibber, Isaac Van Bibber and Margaret Carroll, in consideration of £10,000, sells a 3/5 chare in "...all those Tracts or Parcels of Land lying and being in Anne Arundel and Baltimore Counties in the State of Maryland... being heretofore seized of one fifth and the Heirs of the late Robert Carter of the remaining one fifth part as tenants in common... " to Daniel Carroll of Duddington. Parcels included "...the late Hockley Forge Seat... parcel of land called Fosters Fancy... Belts Point.. . Barron Hills... Maccubbins Discovery..." Minor glue remnants in margins, one weak fold repaired, light marginal wear, else very good condition.
