CHARLES A. LINDBERGH
(1902 - 1974) American aviator who, in his plane, The Spirit of St. Louis was the first to fly solo non-stop across the Atlantic Ocean. T.L.S. signed with initials "C.A.L." on blue letterhead with several holograph notations, 1p. 4to., Les Monts-de-Corsier, July 7, 1964, to his personal secretary Jean Saunders regarding household arrangements during his time in Europe. In part: "...Would you please shut the damper in the fireplace - to avoid the possibility of squirrels (or ducks!) getting down the chimney. I am told that squirrels sometimes get down house chimneys and do an unbelievable amount of damage. I intended to shut this, but had barely finished packing when the taxi arrived...Please put a 25 watt light bulb in one of the fixtures of the parlor-kitchen-floor bedroom...Except for the downstairs bedroom, I have left all shutters open, intentionally...Please check outside water faucets, new house, regularly. Children might turn them on. Also, garden faucet...". With transmittal envelope. Usual folds, fine condition.
