Description:

CHARLES A. LINDBERGH (1902-1974) American aviator who, in his "Spirit of St. Louis", was the first to fly solo non-stop across the Atlantic Ocean. A fine and rather unusual S.P., 10 ¾" x 7 ¾ b/w, comprising the title page of the souvenir album "Illustrations of Colonel Lindbergh's Decorations and Some of His Trophies", ed. Nettie H. Beauregard, (St. Louis: Missouri Historical Society), 1928, 48pp. oblong 4to., a photographic record of just some of the numerous gifts, awards, trophies, keys to the city, and other presentation pieces foisted upon Lindbergh following his historic flight. Lindbergh signs in black ink to the right of his portrait on the title page, depicting him standing in front of his aircraft, the "Spirit of St. Louis". Shows chips and slight soiling to the covers, with slight toning within, else very good. Also present is a T.L.S. from the aforementioned Nettie H. Beauregard, 1p. 4to., St. Louis, Feb. 16, 1937, to a George Aten, in part: "It gives me great pleasure to guarantee the fact that the signature in the Lindbergh Trophy book which I sent you, is that of Colonel Charles A. Lindbergh. In fact I saw Colonel Lindbergh autograph it..." The transmittal envelope for this letter is also included.
