Rare war-date A.L.S., 1p. 4to., [Baltimore], July 7, 1779 to John Fitzgerald. In part: "...I this moment met with a vessel bound to Alex[andri]a by whom I send you the Chares (9). I have not time to send you anything else. The bearer George Slocum...will deliver them to you...". Some show-through of docketing and extemporaneous writing on verso, else very good. John Fitzgerald was an aide to George Washington and a co-director of Washington's Potomack Company.$750-1,000
