115. CAPTURING A UNION PRIZE A.L.S. of C. Marrigault Morris, commander of the "Geo[rgia] Naval Steamer Huntress" and as Commander of the Georgia Navy, 2pp. 4to., Brunswick, May 7, 1861 to Flag Officer Josiah Tatnall at Savannah reporting on the capture of a northern ship carrying gunpowder.. He writes in part: "I have the honor to report my arrival at this Port, where I have come to obtain some information, in relation to the Seizure of the Boston Brig Elisha Doau. she was taken in St. Andrew's sound on the 4th Inst (after she had cleared from the St. Mary's Custom House) by some fifteen citizens of Brunswick and brought to this Port, where she is now detained as a northern vessel. This vessel brought a load of Powder and Provisions South, which she landed at Savannah and was returning with a load of Lumber. I called on the Mayor of this city, to try and gain all the information in relation to her, but could only learn what I have just stated. The Savannah arrived at Cumberland yesterday..." He goes on to note that "...the 'Huntress' is leaking very badly..." Usual folds, otherwise very good. $500-700
