Description:

CAPTURED ISIS FLAG
Small, double-sided ISIS flag, measuring 18 in. x 15.5 in. The hand-painted flag is hemmed with zig-zag style stitching on all four sides, with the left-hand side sewn to form a pole pocket. Signs of battle damage include six very small tears or wear marks towards the center, all barely noticeable and non-distracting. The flag was captured from a Mosque in Deir ez-Zor, Syria and is accompanied by a provenance letter from our consignor. In part: '...northwest of Nashville I opened a hi-tech RC shop in 2016...the only shop of our kind...offering hands on demonstrations of top-of-the-line DJI drones and other RC products...a particular young man...approached me and began asking very technical questions about the current drones and their capabilities...he disclosed to me that the small drones they were using in his [redacted] couldn't touch the technological capacities of what I was selling right there...we continued to meet regularly over the course of that month, developing a rapport...ended up purchasing a [redacted] with 640R thermal sensor and a 30 times optical zoom sensor with IR option. When I received their order in my shop, my tech crew and I designed an enclosure for an IR projector that I attached to the zoom camera so they would be able to wash targets with IR to assure accuracy... The [redacted] and his group came to my shop...and explained that they would be wiping the software clean and installing their own user interface. I had been told this equipment was going to assist our U.S. efforts in Afghanistan, but I had no idea how much this equipment was being utilized to keep our [redacted] out of harm's way. About six months later, they returned to my shop with the [redacted] utterly destroyed. They shared with me phenomenal pictures and videos of sandstorms rolling into the area they occupied during their mission. They told me how the drone was taken down by an EMP, but not before it did its job of targeting six ISIS camps. They explained how they would fly over the target with the drone, silent to the enemy at 300 feet AGL and wash target without detection. After this visit with the [redacted] and his unit, they presented me with this flag that they captured from a Mosque in Deir ez-Zor during the last year of fighting against ISIS.'.
