Description:

CAPITOL BOMBING BRICK DESK SET
An interesting political relic, a piece of red brick measuring 4 1/4" x 2 1/4", reportedly from the U. S. Capitol ca. 1818-1820, with a brass House of Representatives medal affixed to it. Set on a faux-wood display base with holders for two fountain pens, with a plaque from the Joint Carpentry Apprenticeship Committee of Washington D. C. and Vicinity awarding the brick to a gentleman upon graduation, June 1978. On Mar. 1, 1971, the radical group the Weather Underground set a bomb on the ground floor of the Capitol as a protest against U.S. involvement in Laos. While the bomb caused damage, there were no injuries. Very good condition.
