CAMILLE SAINT-SAENS
(1835 - 1921) French composer of operas, symphonies and chamber music, his works include Samson and Delilah and Danse Macabre. Fine A.M.Q.S. penned on an oblong 4to. sheet, the seven opening measures from Op. 50, the symphonic poem La Jeunesse d'Hercule (Youth of Hercules) in E-flat, composed in 1877. Boldly signed at bottom: "10 Juin 1897 Camille Saint-Saens". Handsomely matted in burgundy with a portrait and set into a wood and gilt frame. Two tiny foxed spots at lower right, well clear of any text and mentioned only for accuracy, overall very good to fine condition.
