(1728 - 1784) American Revolutionary patriot and Signer of the Declaration of Independence, a major general of the Delaware militia and later President of Delaware. Good content and association A.D.S., 1p. 8.25 x 3.5 in., [n.p., n.d., possibly 1781-82], a memorandum penned for himself of his brother, THOMAS RODNEY (1744-1811), a delegate to Congress, Continental Congressman, and later, Chief Justice of Mississippi. In part: 'Memorandum for Mr. Thomas Rodney to get once on Philadelphia, a very neat Steel Watch Chain, one blank Book for Recording the orphans Court proceedings, some very good Chewing Tobacco and possibles a very Good pair of Coach horses...one small fiddle for Cesar...get Blackburn to make me a pair of neat Summer Shoes not too low in the Quarters...' Two holes in the text, one affecting the 'd' in signature, tipped to another sheet. Otherwise very good.
