C.S.A. JOINT RESOLUTION IN RELATION TO THE WAR
Confederate imprint, Address of Congress to the People of the Confederate States, Richmond, 1864, 8pp. 8vo., (P&W #228). In this address by J. L. M. Curry to both houses, Southerners were reminded that the war was not going well, and attempted to reinforce in them the ideals for which they were fighting and what types of people they were fighting against in their "struggle for the preservation of Liberty and Civilization; and that no sacrifice of life or fortune can be too costly...". The election of Lincoln is also mention, a culmination of a "long series of oppressive and tyrannical acts". Congress exhorts citizens to offer their "generous and hearty co-operation" to help eliminate the "presence of our cruel foe". Signed in type at conclusion by all members of Congress.
