Description:

C.S.A. GEN. WILLIAM H. WALLACE PRESENTATION CIGAR HUMIDOR
WILLIAM H. WALLACE (1827 - 1905) Confederate brigadier general who commanded a regiment at Antietam and South Mountain, and defended the lines at the Crater at Petersburg. Wallace's 8th S.C. suffered 50% casualties at Second Bull Run, and four companies of his regiment were obliterated in the mine explosion at the Crater. A fine silver-plated cigar humidor, 10" x 5 1/2" x 4", bearing an ornate floral design on side panels and a delicate floral border, hinged lid and perforated center container for a humidifying sponge, artfully engraved on the top lid: "W. H. Wallace from A. V. Mann". Typical tarnishing, and a very small area on left has had some delamination of the plating, else very good and a wonderful relic of one of the South's bravest generals.
