Description:

C.S.A. STAR ARTILLERY SHORT SWORD
Superb and rare relic from the artillery lines of the Civil War, a fine Confederate "star-styled" Model 1832 artillery foot sword used for close-quarters combat, brush clearing, and other artillery tasks. The blade measures 17 3/4" long and 1 3/4" wide, with a 12" fuller, a ribbed handgrip, a "CS" on both sides of the crossguard and a star on each side of the pommel. The brass hilt shows clear signs of being cast in a sand mold, with no stampings on hilt or blade. The sword is purported to have been made in Franklin, Tenn., and is a fine relic of the Confederate Army. The blade's sharp edges attest to its quality manufacture, though the blade has pitting and other marring.
