Description:

Buddy Holly, Chuck Berry & Others Signed 1957 Concert Program
A lucky fan, on hand for the "Biggest Show of Stars for '57" extravaganza concert at the Buffalo Memorial Auditorium on Nov. 19, 1957, came away with the signatures of five future Rock & Roll Hall of Fame members, namely Buddy Holly, Joe B. Mauldin, Chuck Berry, Frankie Lymon, and Gerhart Thrasher. At the time the tour began on September 1st, Holly & The Crickets had just released their first single, "That'll Be The Day," which peaked at #3 on the singles chart later that month as their follow-up, "Peggy Sue" was released. One of Chuck Berry's many classics, "Rock & Roll Music," was moving up the singles chart as the tour was winding down in late November. Frankie Lymon, who's "Why Do Fools Fall In Love" with his group The Teenagers, became one of rock & roll's first million-sellers in early '56, was amidst his first solo outing when he turned 15 during the tour! Signed on the Crickets photo/biography page are the signatures of Buddy Holly and Crickets bassist, Joe B. Mauldin, in blue and green ballpoint pen. Chuck Berry has signed the full-page "duck walk" photo in blue ballpoint pen, while Frankie Lymon has signed his full-page close-up in blue ballpoint pen. Future Rock & Roll Hall of Famer Gerhardt (Gerry) Thrasher of The Drifters has signed the group's photo/biography page in blue ballpoint pen. Additional signatures include bandleader Paul Williams and Buddy Knox, who's "Party Doll" was a #1 million-seller in early '57. Both have signed in blue ballpoint pen. The original owner of the 24-pg. program has written the names of all the artists on the front cover, and again on the first page. Though the cover, which exhibits spine wear, has separated from the inner pages, the individual signed pages are in excellent condition.
