(BUCHENWALD CAMP DOCTOR) EUGEN GILDEMEISTER
EUGEN GILDEMEISTER (1878-1945) German bacteriologist and president of the Robert Koch Institute, instrumental in the decision and planning of pseudo-medical experiments on prisoners at Buchenwald, Natzweiler , Sachsenhausen and Dachau. At Buchenwald, Gildemeister infected 145 prisoners with typhus, resulting in over 250 deaths. He committed suicide at war''s end. Scarce typse D.S. on Robert Koch Institut letterhead, , 1p. oblong 8vo., Berlin, Aug. 26, 1942 to the Rudolf Virchow Hospital in Berlin asking that the bearer of the document be given a full examination. Rough left margin, else very good.
