Description:

BRUNO BRAUER
(1893-1947) German paratrooper, the first to jump from a plane in May 1936, later commander of Crete. Executed for war crimes in Athens for committing atrocities on Crete, including the deaths of thousands. Rare calligraphic D.S. as Commander of Crete, 1p. legal folio, an award for an athletic competition, likely sponsored by the SS, in part: "...Two winners in the 5000m run Gefr. Seck Champtionship of Crete War Year 1943". The award is entirely handwritten in black and red inks, with an interesting Greek Key motif at middle. Brauer signs at bottom. Light foxing, else very good condition.

Shipment is sent USPS priority, USPS International Express (for most overseas) or UPS Ground at the auctioneer's option, signature required, unless other arrangements are made. Handling, shipping and insurance charges will be added to the invoice in one entry. Buyer's should be aware that large, framed, fragile or odd shaped items can incur substantial shipping and packing charges. Customer's who supply their own courier account number will still be charged a handling fee.
