CHARLES EDWARD BROWN-SEQUARD (1817-1894) British neurologist, the first scientist to work out the physiology of the spinal cord, described the syndrome which received his name due to the hemisection of the spinal cord, also did valuable work on the internal secretion of organs. A.L.S. 2pp. 8vo., Nice, Nov. 26, 1883 in French to a colleague. In part: "...I need some sulfate of quinine, absolutely genuine, as one says in English...send me ten grams of this substance that you know so well...send it to me at the same time of manufacture...I shall address to the pharmacist or the fabricator of chemical products a check for the sum due...". Light toning, else very good. Sulfate of quinine is typically used in the treatment of malaria. $150-200
