Description:

BRITISH RESTRAINT BELT FOR MANACLES
An odd item which we simply cannot further trace, a 35" long, 3" wide thick leather belt with wrist restraints and lockable metal hasps at the waist and wrists, each marked with a white, lacquered star. Additionally, there are three small metal links attached to the belt whose purpose is unknown. The belt bears the large black letters "W & F" stenciled thereon, and a paper auction tag affixed to one of the hasps. Typical signs of use. The owner and consignor, the daughter of noted collector Dr. John Lattimer (deceased), believes this restraint was used at Nuremburg by a British hangman, but provenance is lacking. Knowing Lattimer's collection, research might pay off handsomely.
