Description:

Very informative lot of four issues of "Scots Magazine", each 8vo., including the January 1768, September 1768, November 1768, and December 1768 issues, notably discussing the theme of "no taxation without representation", reading in small part: "...their constituents...cannot, by any possibility, be represented in Parliament...for obvious reasons, it would be beyond the rule of equity that their constituents would should be taxed...". The later issue additionally discusses the boycott of British goods, adding a transcript of an agreement from Boston's traders and merchants, which reads: "by the large sums collected by the officers of customs...the heavy tax levied to discharge the debts contracted by the government in the late war...we the subscribers...will not purchase...any kinds of goods imported from G. Britain...until the act imposing duties on those articles will be repealed..." Much more content. Very good.
