Description:

Grouping of approx. 45 pieces of paperwork, documents, and photographs belonging to Lt. Colonel C.M. Inigo-Jones of the British Joint Services Mission, who visited Fort Bliss, Texas from November 17 to 22, 1948, and was possibly involved in guided missile development with the U.S. government. The interior bears his itinerary, which mentions on Thursday, Nov. 18, 730hrs: 'See V-2 Shoot'. Other notable entries include visits to the gunnery department, electronic department, tactics department, guided missiles department, and numerous others. Other pages include a map of the Air Force facilities in the area; a more specific description of the V-2 related stations and machinery within the White Sands Proving Ground - one stop of his visit; a history of the White Sands Proving Ground, Fort Bliss, El Paso, AAF Board No. 4, and the 1st Guided Missile Regiment; and much more. The binder's front cover bears Inigo-Jones' printed name and rank, the printed dates '17-22 Nov. 1948', and the printed location 'AAA & GM CENTER FORT BLISS TEXAS'. Very good. Sold with three of Inigo-Jones's guest passes during his visit, as well as an invitation to him from the commanding general of the fort's anti-aircraft artillery and the 'Guided Missile Center'.
