Included in this historic collection: "The trial at large of Louis XVI, late king of France, containing a most complete and authentic narrative of every interesting and important circumstance attending the accusation-trial, defence, sentence-execution etc. of this unfortunate monarch. Communicated in a series of letters by a member of the late National Assembly to a member of the British Parliament, to which is subjoined a copy of his majesty's will" [London: H. MacLeish], 1793. 128pp. 8vo., a defense of Louis XVI translated from the French; "Judgment and execution of Louis XVI. King of France; with a list of the members of the National Convention, who voted for and against his death; and the names of many of the most considerable sufferers in the course of the French Revolution, distinguished according to their principles" by H. Goudemetz [London?, ca. 1793], 100pp. 8vo.; "Authentic trial at large of Marie Antoinette, late Queen of France, before the Revolutionary Tribunal at Paris, on Tuesday, October 15, 1793. to which are prefixed, her life, and a verbal copy of her private examination previous to her public trial. To which is subjoined…a discourse on the rise and fall of the papacy" by Henry Hunter [London: John Murray], 1793. 32p. 8vo.; "Sermon Preached Before the Lords Spiritual and Temporal", London, 1793. 40pp. 8vo.; "A Sermon preached before the House of Commons" by Rev. Thomas Hay, London, 1793. 20pp. 8vo.; "Letter of the…Bishop of Leon", London, 1793. 20pp. 8vo., plus three additional sermons. Also present is a hand-colored engraving of Louis XVI (trimmed), an engraving of a guillotine in use, a 1793 hand-colored engraving of Marie Antoinette, and several clippings concerning the trials and executions laid-in. Although a few of the pages may have been slightly trimmed to accommodate being bound in a single volume, these books and printings are in excellent condition. Covers detached and spine worn, in need of separate binding or should be entirely rebound. Many of these printings are exceedingly rare!
