Description:

BRASS SS CYANIDE SUICIDE CAPSULE
A great SS relic, believed by us to be an authentic 77/42 Tesch und Stabenow hollow brass container for a cyanide vial, 1.75 in. long, .6 in. wide. These screw-top containers held glass, single-dose capsules of cyanide which would be removed by the bearer prior to questioning during captivity. One would bite down on the glass capsule and the cyanide would take its deadly effect within seconds. This poison was effectively used by Heinrich Himmler, Herman Goring, and Eva Braun to escape execution at the hands of the Allies. The container bears the correct type knurled edges on both the lid and the bottom, with SS runes at top consistent with other examples. The glass vial is no longer present, but otherwise in very good condition, with original, very clear stamping, no evidence of tampering whatsoever, and a fine, period patina. Offered as is.
