1126. GREGORY "PAPPY" BOYINGTON (1912 - 1988) American military aviator with 28 "kills", his "Black Sheep" squadron harassed Japanese forces in the Solomons late in the war. A nice lot of two signed volumes of his military memoirs, the first being Baa Baa Black Sheep (Fresno: Wilson Press, 1958), boldly inscribed on the half title page: "June 13, 1982 To Kay and Lee Bray with warmest regards always Pappy Boyington". Light wear to dustjacket, otherwise very good. With his volume Tonya (Indianapolis: Bobbs Merrill, 1960), bearing cautionary note on cover "Not recommended for children"!. Signed on the first free endpaper: "Oct. 2, 1983 To Jim with a Chinese Ding Hao from Pappy Boyington". Tear to upper-right of dustjacket, else very good. Two pieces. $200 - 300
