189. (JOHN WILKES BOOTH) (1838-1865) American actor who assassinated Abraham Lincoln on April 14, 1865, tracked-down and finally shot by Boston Corbett in a barn as it burned. Scarce carte-de-visite of Booth in a full length pose (Gutman #25), and the only known pose of him wearing a hat. A rarely encountered CDV with auction records to $900.00. Excellent tone and contrast.
