Description:

Bob Dylan "Subterranean Homesick Blues" Award Plaque
This special "Breakout Award" is presented by Columbia Records to Chuck Gregory (the label's Northern California Public Relations Rep) for his work to promote the single "Subterranean Homesick Blues." Taken from the half-electric, half-acoustic 1965 album, "Bringing It All Back Home," the song was considered the strongest candidate to become a pop hit. At the time, the electrified, rock-oriented Dylan was received with mixed reviews both on record and on the concert stage; appearances at Newport and Forest Hills being met with hostility by some folk purists. Though the record peaked at only #39 in May '65 on the Billboard singles chart, "Like A Rolling Stone," from Dylan's next album, "Highway 61 Revisited," peaked at #2 just five months later; The Beatles' "Help!" blocking it's path to #1 for 3 successive weeks. Awards from this pivotal period in Dylan's career are rarely seen. The engraved plaque, dated March 1965, is mounted to a 3/4" thick, 9" x 12" wooden plaque.
