Description:

BLACK SOLDIERS IN THE PACIFIC THEATRE DURING WORLD WAR II
An original press photo from World War II 10" x 8" b/w, showing a group of Black Coast Guard servicemen relaxing on board a ship. The legend on verso reads: "NEGRO MARINES RELAX ON PACIFIC CROSSING. Aboard a U.S. Coast Guard manned transport somewhere in the Pacific, a group of Negro Marines presents a cheerful front...". Very good. Along with a second press photo 8" x 10" b/w, showing Black troops rolling drums of oil for American planes on the beach of Biak Island, off of New Guinea. Very good, two pieces.
