Description:

BERNHARD FRANK'S POSTWAR FILE OF PERSONAL RECOMMENDATIONS (150+)
BERNHARD FRANK (1913 - 2011) SS Commander of the Obersalzberg complex who arrested Hermann Goring on April 25, 1945 by order of Adolf Hitler. He was ordered to execute Goring, but refused to do so. Frank had previously served as a librarian at Wewelsburg Castle, the ideological training ground for the SS, then occupied a senior position on Himmler's administrative staff. Later, Frank served as a commander at the eastern front. He eventually was made commander of Obersalzberg. A large grouping of material, approx. 150 pieces, maintained by Frank and with many pieces annotated by him, the vast majority of which concern his efforts to avoid imprisonment as a leading SS officer in the years immediately following the end of World War II. Included is a handwritten biographical application, a typed extract of his soldbuch, church attestations, and other supportive correspondence, including dozens of letters of recommendation, including signed examples from ERNST RODE (2), HELMUT VON HUMMEL (2), WILHELM KMENT, KARLERUST LASCH, ANTON MARKERT (2), FREDY STOLL, JULIUS LESSMANN, GERO PRIEMEL, HORST WELTER, as well as comrades in the SS and at Wewelsburg and Obersalzburg, and dozens of others unidentified by us. There are also three typed copies of Frank's lengthy military history (likely self-typed), documents concerning his 'denazification, a lengthy 1947 A.L.S. by Frank (not translated), and much more. Not translated and absolutely worthy of further research. Overall very good.
