Description:

the drive at El Alamein that ultimately drove Rommel from North Africa. Also involved in the invasions of Sicily and France. Excellent D.S. "Montgomery of Alamein", 1p. large 8vo., Sicily, September, 1943, a British Eighth Army "PERSONAL MESSAGE FROM THE ARMY COMMANDER" signed in type by Monty and intended to be read to the troops. In part: "...the time has now come to carry the battle on to the mainland of Italy...I have complete confidence in the successful outcome...Forward to Victory! Let us knock ITALY out of the war!...". This appears to be an original field-printed order, signed later at top in blue ink. A few tiny foxed spots in blank bottom margin, else very good.
