Description:

BERETTA M1935 HOLSTER WITH CAPTURE CERTIFICATE
A fine World War II "bring back" item, a leather Italian holster, approx. 6 1/4" x 5 1/2", intended to hold a Beretta M1935 .32 caliber pistol, unfortunately absent here. The exterior is finished a taupe-brown color overall, and the flap cover is secured with a leather strap through a rectangular metal loop. A shell type metal star is affixed to the flap, with signs that a second star was once affixed immediately below, but later removed. The reverse of the extant star shows the trademark of a Milan manufacturer, and the insignia likely indicate use by an Italian officer. A pouch underneath the flap still contains an original open-sided magazine with finger extension, unfortunately unmarked. The interior shows signs of wear from the pistol. A belt loop is affixed to the reverse of the holster with two rivets, to which has been added the black ink inscription: "Lyons 33431482". Present with the holster is a partly-printed D.S., 1p. oblong 8vo., [n.p.], April 22, 1945, certifying that a Thomas E. Lyons captured two items of enemy equipment, including: "1 ea. Beretta Cal 32 Ser. No. F10968". The holster shows wear overall commensurate with age and use, else very good.
