BENJAMIN HARRISON
(1833-1901) 23rd President of the United States. During the Civil War, Harrison served as a Brigadier General in the Army of the Cumberland. A.L.S as Senator, 1p. 4to., Washington, May 11, 1881 to John B. Dowd enclosing "...some recommendations in your behalf for an appointment in some [illeg.] for the Department... You will...sure appreciate the difficulty I am under from the that fact that I have already promised so many applicants from our State..." Usual foods, else fine condition. From the B. T.
