(BENJAMIN CHURCH) WARRANT SIGNED BY THOMAS CHURCH
BENJAMIN CHURCH (1639-1718) Son of noted Indian fighter and the first army "ranger", Benjamin Church, author of "Entertaining Passages Relating to Philip''s War" which was dictated to him by his father. A.D.S. signed three times, 2pp. large 8vo., Bristol, RI, May 24, 1720. Suspect John Price is ordered to be arrested on a complaint by his wife Martha who alleged: "...her husband John Price, being angry that the Child cried a little, swore by God that made him that he wouldkill of be kil''d which so terrified her that sd Martha having been often threatened before, that she left her home and came to her sisters...lest there should be murther [murder] committed...". On the verso, Church attests that Price had been seized. Very good.
