Description:

(BENITO MUSSOLINI) THE "RED" DRAGON AND THE BLACK SHIRTS
Pro-Fascist book, "The 'Red' Dragon and the Black Shirts - How Italy Found Her Soul: The True Story of the Fascisti Movement ", by Sir Percival Phillips, K.B.E. (London: Carmelite House), 1922, 72pp. 8vo., describing the rise of Mussolini and his fascist government, their battles against communist and socialist forces, and their overthrow of the democratically elected government of Italy. The book takes a strongly anti-communist and pro-fascist stance, which was a common reaction to the rise of communism in Europe following the Russian Revolution of 1917. It includes a four page section of photographs of Mussolini and Italian Blackshirts taking part in marches and burning communist papers. The book is bound in red paper covers. It bears a dedication on the front flyleaf: "Brother and Boots from your Fascisti Friends". The binding is split in several places, but all pages are present and intact. Moderate foxing throughout, else very good.
