Description:

BEATLES-SIGNED APPLE CONTRACTS
Important grouping of three Apple Music contracts concerning three members of the Beatles and clearly demonstrating their inability to work together as members of the company's board of directors. All of the 1p. 4to. signed pages are from separate 1978 documents related to the appointment of directors to Apple, the titular holding company of their collective music recordings, lyrics, etc. One document, the second page of a two-page document, is signed by PAUL MCCARTNEY. It lists the two designates to the board of directors chosen by each director, who were the band members themselves. It is notable that McCartney has chosen his brother-in-law, John L. Eastman to represent him. Eastman was Linda's brother, who would later serve as McCartney's manager, along with his father Lee Eastman. The second document, signed by GEORGE HARRISON and dated Oct. 4, 1978, is a "Consent to Action" in which Harrison approves to the board's action: "John L. Eastman is elected as a director of the Corporation to succeed James Paul McCartney...to take effect upon the resignation of James Paul McCartney as a director...Yoko Ono Lennon is elected as a director of the Corporation to succeedd John Lennon...upon the resignation of John Lennon...George Harrison is re-elected as a director..." The third document, dated Sep. 29, 1978, is signed by YOKO ONO LENNON as a director and approves the appointment of Lynn Tannenbaum as Vice President, Secretary and Treasurer. All three documents bear file holes but are otherwise fine. Also included is a 2014 letter of authenticity from internationally recognized Beatles handwriting expert Frank Caiazzo whose expertise is unquestionable. McCartney represented by Eastman's father and ex-corporate counsel Lee Eastman would later sue his fellow band members to dissolve the partnership, and he eventually succeeded. Eastman fathe and son would later manage McCartney's career and make him the most financially successful of the four Beatles.
